Summary: Diagnosis of Prostate Cancer Using Multigene Expression Signatures

This research study examines blood samples from men being treated for localized prostate cancer and compares them to blood samples from men who do not have prostate cancer. It is hoped that a way to diagnose prostate cancer from a blood sample may be developed from this study. Treatment must be performed at Mount Sinai Medical Center. Due to the experimental nature of these studies, there is no direct benefit to the participant and the results are not available to the participant. There is no compensation for participating in this research study if you are currently receiving treatment at Mount Sinai Medical Center. Participants in the Control Group will recieve a Metro Card toward travel expenses.

Patient Inclusion/Exclusion Criteria:

Diagnosis of localized prostate cancer (in the prostate gland only)

OR FOR COMPARISON CONTROL GROUP:
Prostate Specific Antigen < 4ng./dl

Advanced or metastatic prostate cancer

OR FOR COMPARISON CONTROL GROUP:
Known Risk Factor for Prostate Cancer
Enlarged Prostate Gland (Self Report)
Compromised Immune Function (Self Report)
