Summary: Multi-Center, Placebo-Controlled study of safety and efficacy for Diarrhea Predominant IBS with a highly specific and selective oral 5-HT3 receptor antagonist.

Screening period up to 28 days

  • Physical examination, blood tests & EKG
  • Questionnaire

Run-In 18 days

  • Daily diary

Treatment period 12 weeks

  • 4 clinic visits
  • Daily diary
  • Study medication 3 times/day

Inclusion:

  • 18 years of age male or female
  • Able to use a touch tone telephone for daily diary
  • Diarrhea-predominant IBS

Exclusion Criteria:

  • Diagnosis of Functional Dyspepsia
  • Pregnant or lactating females
  • Known infection with HIV
