Trial Information

Summary: Redistribution of Pulmonary Perfussion During Bronchoconstriction in Asthma

We are conducting an imaging research study to look at how blood flow changes in the lungs of people with asthma during an asthma attack.
We are interested in recruiting subjects with asthma, age 18 – 65, for a Positron Emission Tomography (PET) and Computed Axial Tomography (CAT scan) study of the distribution of blood flow in the lungs before and after airway constriction. This study is being undertaken in collaboration among the Departments of Anesthesia and Critical Care, Medicine, and Radiology at Massachusetts General Hospital. It involves intravenous administration of a radioactive isotope. There will be three visits, a screening visit and two imaging sessions. The screening session will take about 1 hour and each imaging session will last approximately 3 –4 hours. Participants will receive $500 upon completion of both imaging sessions. Travel and parking fees will be reimbursed. If you are interested please call Mamary Kone, M.D., M.P.H., at 617-726-1082 or e-mail at mkone@partners.org
