Trial Information

Summary: Hypertension Study CSPA100A2305

The purpose of this clinical research trial is to find out if aliskiren (Tekturna®) alone and in combination with amlodipine (Norvasc®) is safe and will lower blood pressure in participants with high blood pressure.
Aliskiren (Tekturna®) is a medicine which has recently been approved by the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) for the treatment of people with high blood pressure and is already available for sale in the U.S.
Amlodipine (Norvasc®) belongs to a class of drugs called "calcium channel blockers (CCB)". It is also approved by the US Food and Drug administration (FDA) and is available for sale in the U.S.
The combination of aliskiren and amlodipine is considered investigational. The word investigational means that the combination of aliskiren and amlodipine is still being tested and is not approved by the FDA and is NOT available for sale in the U.S.

Participants will be required to visit the study center approximately 7 to 11 times over a duration of 10 to 13 weeks. Each visit will take about 1-2 hours.
