Trial Information

Summary: PHII-84, NCI#7659; A Randomized, Phase II Study of GW786034 (Pazopanib) in Stage DO Relapsed Androgen Sensitive Prostate Cancer Following Limited GnRH Agonist Therapy

You are being asked to take part in this study because you have persistent prostate cancer as seen by a rising PSA (blood test indicating prostate cancer) despite therapy with surgery and/or radiation. The purpose of this study is to determine if GW786034 (pazopanib) is able to increase the time it takes for prostate cancer to progress (for PSA tests to get worse) following 6 months of androgen blockade treatment as compared to observation only (no additional treatment). The study will also describe the side effects of pazopanib in subjects with prostate cancer and monitor changes in testosterone in relationship to pazopanib therapy versus observation. Your treatment on this study is expected to last for as long as your tumor is not growing and you are not having any unmanageable side effects. After your treatment on this study is over, your medical condition will continue to be followed indefinitely.
