Trial Information
Summary: Phase II Study of Preoperative Intensity-Modulated Radiation Therapy for Soft-Tissue Sarcomas
You have been asked to participate in this research study because you have primary or recurrent soft-tissue sarcoma. The purpose of this study is to test whether the pre-operative use of a radiation therapy delivery technique called Intensity-Modulated Radiation Therapy (IMRT) can spare normal tissue from radiation and reduce the incidence of post-operative wound complications. Questionnaires will be used to study whether better sparing of healthy tissue improves quality of life after radiation. Tumor biopsies will be obtained before IMRT and at the time of surgery for laboratory tests to study the effects of radiation on tumor cells. Your treatment on this study is expected to last for 2 years after your surgery. After your treatment on this study is over, your medical condition will continue to be followed indefinitely.
