Trial Information

Summary: A phase IIB research study to assess symptoms in stable to moderate to severe COPD patients taking an investigational drug once daily in combination with Foradil once or twice daily versus Foradil twice daily.

This research study will be conducted over 6 weeks and will include 4 clinic visits and a follow up phone call 1 week after the end of treatment. Study procedures include physical examinations, EKGs, clinical lab work, pulmonary function tests, completion of questionnaires and electronic diaries.

Patient Inclusion Criteria
Eligible candidates will have a diagnosis of stable moderate to severe COPD with at least a 10 pack year smoking history. Participants can be male or female between the ages of 40-80.

Patient Exclusion Criteria
Long term oxygen use of greater than 15 hours a day. Diagnosis of asthma or allergic rhinitis. Participants may not have had a myocardial infarction within the preceding 6 months or hospitalization for class III or IV heart failure in the preceding 12 months. Night shift workers will not be included. History of drug or alcohol abuse in the last 5 years.
