Trial Information

Summary: A Phase II Study of Yttrium-90-Labeled Anti-CD20 Monoclonal Antibody in Combination with High-Dose Beam (BCNU, Etoposide, Cytarabine and Melphalan) Followed by Autologous Stem Cell Transplantation for Patients with Poor Risk/Relapsed B-Cell Lymphoma

You have been asked to participate in this research study because you have Non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma (NHL) which has never responded to therapy, has relapsed, or has a high chance of relapsing (cancer returning). The purposes of this study are to evaluate Yttrium-90-Labeled Anti-CD20 Monoclonal Antibody in combination with high-dose BEAM (BCNU, Etoposide, Cytarabine and Melphalan) followed by autologous stem cell transplantation (ASCT) as a treatment for NHL in terms of: 1) overall survival and survival without relapse (return of disease) or progression (worsening of disease); 2) recovery of blood counts; 3) heart, lung, and liver toxicities during the first 100 days after ASCT and one year after ASCT; 4) the rate at which NHL responds to this treatment; and 5) the incidence of myelodysplasia (MDS, a disorder in which the bone marrow cannot make adequate blood cells) and therapy-related acute myeloid leukemia (AML). You will be asked to sign a separate consent form for participation in a companion study (IRB #98117). Your participation in this study is expected to last about two months for the treatment. After your treatment on this study is over, your medical condition will be followed indefinitely for possible long-term complications.
