Trial Information
Summary: A Phase Ib Study of ADV-TK + Valacyclovir Gene Therapy in Combination with Standard Radiation Therapy for Malignant Gliomas
You have been asked to participate in this research study because you have malignant glioma (a brain tumor). The purpose of this study is to find the highest of three doses of AdV-tk (an experimental gene transfer treatment explained further in section II) that can be given in combination with valacyclovir and radiation therapy without causing unmanageable side effects. The researchers will also look at the type of side effects the treatment causes and whether malignant glioma responds to this treatment and how long the response lasts. In addition, researchers will evaluate how this treatment impacts quality of life. Lastly, researchers will collect tumor tissue samples for future research studies and special blood samples for Immune Research Studies. Your participation in this study is expected to last 3-4 months for treatment. After your treatment on this study is over, your medical condition will be followed indefinitely.
