Trial Information

Summary: PaTK01: A Phase I Study of ADV-TK Therapy in Combination with Surgery and Chemoradiation for Pancreas

You have been asked to participate in this research study because you have cancer of the pancreas. This study is being done to evaluate a research approach that includes the transfer of a gene (referred to as “gene transfer”) to make cells that receive the gene susceptible to (be killed by) a medicine normally used to treat herpes infections (valacyclovir). This research approach is being evaluated in combination with standard treatments for pancreatic cancer, such as surgery, radiation therapy and chemotherapy, with the hope of improving the way these treatments work. The purpose of this study is to find the best dose of AdVtk (the gene transfer virus, which is described more fully in the Background section) to give with standard treatments and to evaluate the safety of the research approach in combination with the standard treatments. Your participation in the active phase of this study is expected to last two to three months. After this, you will be seen for routine check ups and your general health status is expected to be followed for the rest of your life.
