Trial Information
Summary: EXTEND (Eltrombopag eXTENded Dosing Study): An Extension Study of Eltrombopag Olamine (SB-497115-GR) in Adults, with Idiopathic Thrombocytopenic Purpura (ITP), Previously Enrolled in an Eltrombopag Study
You have been asked to participate in this research study because you have chronic idiopathic thrombocytopenic purpura (ITP) (persistent low blood platelets), and you have previously taken part in a study with the experimental drug eltrombopag olamine (SB-497115-GR). The purpose of this study is to see if eltrombopag is safe and effective when used to treat people with ITP. Another purpose is to determine if the study drug will reduce or eliminate the need to use other ITP medications. This study is intended to continue until eltrombopag is approved for long-term use in subjects with ITP, by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA). Your participation in this study will continue for as long as you continue to benefit from the study treatment and do not experience greater than moderate side effects associated with the study medication.
