Trial Information
Summary: Acquisition of Peripheral Blood or Marrow Cells for Laboratory Study
Peripheral Blood Stem Cell Donor
You have been asked to participate in this research study because you will be undergoing a peripheral blood stem cell (PBSC) collection. The purpose of this research is to study the biology of blood cell formation and/or to develop methods for possible gene therapy of blood cells. Your participation in the study would last only for the time of the stem cell collection.
Bone Marrow Donor
You have been asked to participate in this research study because you are a bone marrow donor. The purpose of this research is to study bone marrow function, to better understand how blood and bone are formed, and to evaluate the possibility of gene therapy of blood cells. Your participation in this study is expected to last for the time required to obtain additional marrow at the time of marrow harvest.
Normal Volunteers
You have been asked to participate in this research study because you are a healthy volunteer. The purpose of this research is to develop methods for possible gene therapy of blood cells. Your participation in the study would last only for the time required for blood donation.
Patients with Hematologic Malignancies
You have been asked to participate in this research study because you have a malignancy (tumor), which affects the bone marrow, where blood is made. The purpose of this research is to study bone marrow function, to better understand the process of blood and bone formation, and to develop methods for possible gene therapy of blood and bone cells. Your participation in the study would last only for the time required for blood donation and for donation of additional marrow at the time of a diagnostic examination.
