Trial Information
Summary: Membranous Nephropathy Secondary to Systemic Lupus Erythematosus (SLE) - Adults
People with Systemic Lupus Erythematosus (SLE) are asked to
participate in a research study being conducted by North Shore-Long
Island Jewish Health System.
You may be eligible to participate in this study if
you:
- Are at least 18 years of age
- Have been diagnosed with SLE
- History of positive antinuclear antibody test (The antinuclear
antibody (ANA) test is a test done to look for a group of
autoantibodies that attack substances found in the center (nucleus)
of all cells. It is useful as a screen for many autoantibodies
associated with diseases that affect the entire body (systemic
diseases)
- Have been on a stable dose of oral corticosteroids (less than
or equal to 20 mg/day of prednisone or equivalent) for 2 months
before study day 1
- Have had no change in therapy for SLE within 2 months before
study day 1
You may not participate in this study if
you:
- Have diabetes mellitus
- Have evidence lupus nephritis such as active urinary
sediment
- Have uncontrolled hypertension or high blood pressure
- Have only one functioning kidney
- Have evidence of unstable clinically significant disease (eg,
cardiovascular, cerebrovascular, respiratory, or renal disease, or
any serious disorder that currently requires a physician’s care)
other than SLE
- Have a history of cancer (except skin or cervical cancer)
- Have documented viral or bacterial infection, vomiting, fever,
or diarrhea) that has not completely resolved within 7 days before
study day 1
- Have a history of drug or alcohol abuse
- Are pregnant, breastfeeding, or intend to become pregnant
during the study
- Have participated in another research study within the last 30
days
