Summary: Adolescents ages 10-15 with idiopathic scoliosis for a research study.
UVa Health System, Department of Pediatrics, Orthopedics Division seeks ages 10 to 15 years with idiopathic scoliosis for a research study.
The purpose of the study is look at the different treatments of scoliosis and the outcomes of these treatments. Study involves randomization into one of two study groups. One group will be braced to treat their scoliosis. The other group will be watched.
Participants in the Watched group will come in for a minimum of 2 visits per year. The Braced group, will come in for at least 3 visits over 1 year.
Each visit will take about 2-3 hours.
Participation in the study will last about 3 years, or until you stop growing, whichever is later. No compensation is provided for this study.
