Company Overview
Summit Research Network is a medical research organization with
research centers currently located in three states. We conduct
clinical trials, also referred to as research studies. This process
is required for investigational medications. Research studies offer
an opportunity for volunteers to participate in research that may
ultimately improve treatment for a variety of physical and
emotional conditions.
We work in cooperation with pharmaceutical companies to develop
medical treatments. Our research centers have been conducting
central nervous system (CNS) and general medical studies for over
26 years with over 400 completed clinical studies to date. Summit
Research Network is a nationally recognized organization which is
committed to conducting the highest quality of medical research for
its patients.
Our research centers offer professional and experienced staff
including:
Physicians (Psychiatry and Internal Medicine)
Physician Assistants
Psychologists
Nurse Practitioners
Registered Nurses
Social Workers
Certified Clinical Research Coordinators
Certified Lab Technicians
Medical Assistants
Support Personnel
Summit Research Network Management, Inc., is the administration
component of the Summit Research Network. In addition to providing
administrative support (such as accounting and payroll) for all
three sites, SRN Management negotiates and manages all clinical
trial agreements for studies conducted by the Summit Research
Network.
Products and Services
We study medication-based treatments for various physical and
emotional conditions. Some of these studies are undertaken to
enhance our understanding of currently available medications (for
example, determining optimal dose schedules). We also conduct
research on medications that are not yet available, and look at
questions of expanded usage (for example, determining whether an
established medical treatment for depression is also effective in
treating anxiety). All medications now on the market have gone
through this same process.
Many of our studies involve comparisons between a study
medication, a commonly prescribed medication, and a placebo
(inactive substance). We include placebo groups in some of our
studies because a surprising number of people improve when treated
with placebos, and the status of patients in the placebo group
gives us a comparison base for evaluating the effectiveness of
active medications.
Our goal is to expand what is known about medical treatment
while offering top-quality patient care. We provide thorough
assessments and carefully select individuals who are likely to
benefit from our programs. Many of our studies also include a
series of free follow-up visits to determine appropriate treatment
strategies. All patients are referred for ongoing care following
the termination of their participation in a study.
