The story of PharmaLinkFHI started in 1971 when Family Health International (FHI) began building a comprehensive network of research capabilities in over 100 countries. In 1982, FHI pioneered the integration of technology into the trial process in a large scale, multinational trial. PharmaLink was established in 1998, and was recognized as the first CRO to specialize in internet-based management of clinical trials. In 1999, FHI and PharmaLink joined forces to create the first eCRO with access to over 100 countries worldwide.

Albert J. Siemens, PhD - CEO, FHI; CEO, PharmaLinkFHI
Dr. Siemens joined FHI in 1983 as Director of Clinical Trials. In 1986, he was instrumental in the formation of FHI’s first commercial CRO, Clinical Research International (CRI), serving as President and COO until the company was acquired in 1990. His 20 years in multinational pharmaceutical product development are augmented by extensive research management and teaching experience in Pharmacology. Dr. Siemens became CEO of PharmaLinkFHI in 1999.

John Larus - Vice President and Chief Technology Officer
With degrees from the Johns Hopkins University and the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill, John has nearly two decades of experience in clinical data management and biostatistics in the CRO industry. John’s interest in innovative uses of computers throughout clinical research has been recognized for both its scientific and business significance. John became a founding partner and president of PharmaLink in 1998.

Richard J. Shea - Executive Vice President, Finance & Corporate Development
Mr. Shea joined PharmaLinkFHI as Vice President of Business Development in January 2000. Today, he serves as the Executive Vice President of Finance & Corporate Development. Prior to joining PharmaLinkFHI, Mr. Shea served as Senior Director of the Pharmaceuticals Group at Analytika, and in a variety of management roles with Merck & Co., Inc. Mr. Shea received his MBA with honors from Duke University's Fuqua School of Business in 1992 and a Bachelor of Science Degree, cum laude, from the University of Notre Dame in 1985. Between 1985 and 1990, he served as a Submarine Officer in the U.S. Navy.
