Center Overview
Gulf Coast Research is a well respected research center located in Baton Rouge Louisiana. Our experienced staff of clinical pharmacists and registered nurses have delivered quick start up and successful patient recruitment for CROs and Sponsors since the summer of 2000. Our coordinator staff has over 8 years of clinical research experience.
Our Phase I Center is a state of the art facility with the ability to monitor up to 16 subjects at a time over a 24 to 84 hours or longer period.
We offer investigator site management services to the pharmaceutical and medical device industry. Sponsors receive centralized study agreement and budget management for multiple sites. Our experienced coordinators actively participate in each study we manage and coordinate for local investigators. Our staff is experienced in utilizing Remote Data Entry and we have the technology and equipment to accommodate RDE studies.
Gulf Coast Research Associates is located across from a 70+ Multi-Specialty Physician Clinic and near Three (3) large Medical Centers with a combined bed capacity of over 1,300 beds.

Facility Description
Gulf Coast Research Associates’ corporate office is located at 2133 Silverside Dr., Ste D Baton Rouge LA, 70808. We manage and coordinate multiple sites from our corporate location. CRFs, Regulatory Binders, Investigator & Sponsor Contracts, Shadow Source Documents, lab specimen preparation, drug storage, and a monitoring area is maintained at the corporate office. Gulf Coast Research also manages clinical studies for a 40+ Multi-Specialty Physician Clinic which contains a full service pharmacy, clinical reference lab, X-Ray equipment, freezer/refrigerators, diagnostic equipment, and meeting rooms available to perform high quality Phase I-IV clinical research. We also manage research for a well respected Five (5) member Ophthalmology Clinic, which houses an ophthalmic and cosmetic surgery center. We have two Phase I facilities which combine to hold at least 16 subjects at a time for PK, PD, Tolerance & Drug/Diet or Drug/Drug Interaction trials. We have a full service Clinical Laboratory and Pharmacy on site.

Patient Demographics
The Baton Rouge area has over 500,000 people with a racial mix of 49% African American, 49% Caucasian, and 2% other. There is a high incidence of Hypertension, Diabetes, and Cancer in our area of the country. Over 99% of the Baton Rouge area population is research naïve, which makes Gulf Coast Research Associates the perfect choice for conducting clinical trials.

- A Phase IIB study to test the efficacy and safety of multiple dosing regimen of an investigational drug in the treatment of sleep maintenance insomnia.
- A Phase IIIB study to evaluate the efficacy of moderate (one drug) versus aggressive (two drugs) treatment for Stage 2 high blood pressure (Patient who has blood pressure readings between 160 and 185 mmHg (systolic), and between 100 and 109 mmHg (diastolic)).
- A study to assess the efficacy and safety of an investigational drug for the treatment of patients who has Restless Leg Syndrome (RLS) requiring extended treatment coverage.
- A study to assess the safety, efficacy and tolerability of an investigational drug for the treatment of Restless Leg Syndrome (RLS) on as needed basis.
- A study to compare the effectiveness and safety of investigational drug(s) regimens to effectively prevent a second stroke.
- A study to test the safety and efficacy of an investigational drug to treat “pink eye” (acute bacterial conjunctivitis).
- Complicated or Uncomplicated skin and soft tissue infection.
- Male and Female patients at least 18 years of age with Restless Leg Syndrome symptoms which interfere with sleep.
- Poorly controlled type 2 diabetics who are on a combination of 2 oral diabetic medications.
- This study will compare the efficacy and safety of treatment with Novolog 70/30 Insulin plus two oral anti-diabetic medications, to the efficacy and safety of treatment with two oral anti-diabetic medications alone, in patients who have type II diabetes and have never been treated with insulin.
- This study will compare the efficacy, safety, and tolerability of an investigational drug to the efficacy, safety, and tolerability of Glipizide, in inadequately controlled Type II diabetic patients.
