Center Overview

NICR performs clinical trials in more than 40+ multi-specialty medical offices/clinics, and in 10 hospitals, all reaching from Bakersfield, CA in the north, east to Riverside/San Bernardino, CA and south to San Diego. NICR’s high profile affiliates include the National Institute of Transplantation, St. Vincent Medical Center, University of Southern California (USC) University Hospital, Children’s Hospital of Los Angeles and Sharp Memorial Hospital in San Diego.

Our professional relationships with physicians & surgeons in all therapeutic categories and numerous institutes enable NICR to engage in multiple aspects of phase I-IV pharmaceutical, biotech and medical device studies. NICR also performs surgical device, consumer-applied device and assisted-organ studies. NICR’s medical advisory board transplant surgeons at the National Institute of Transplantation, the second busiest transplantation center in the US, facilitate complicated liver, kidney and pancreas biomedical studies.

Facility Description

NICR is conveniently located close to LAX and Ontario airports, situated within the highest density, multicultural Los Angeles populations. Centrally located, NICR performs studies within a large radius reaching north to Bakersfield, east to Riverside/San Bernardino and south to San Diego.

Lodging and restaurants are conveniently located for ease of site qualification, monitor and other study staff visits. NICR’s immediate campus includes St. Vincent Hospital and our transplantation institute.

  • On-site 8,000 square foot clinical research laboratory with full staff, offices, cold room, freezers, centrifuges and complete immunological, biochemical and molecular labs.
  • On-site, 20,000 square foot in-vivo animal lab supporting chemical, drug, diagnostic and medical device R&D.
  • On-site, 6,000 square foot histopathology labs including cryomicrotome and full histology preparation labs.

Investigator Experience

NICR in comprised of numerous, high-profile clinical research physicians and surgeons practicing in AMCs, non-AMCs, and in many high volume outpatient offices. Our investigators are board certified and regularly engage in clinical research studies.

Many of our investigators are also available, beyond investigator meetings, to provide significant pre-study protocol input. NICR encourages investigators to convey in-study ideas to sponsors to help enhance study outcomes.

Staff Expertise

NICR’s CRCs are medical graduates with solid clinical research experience across all therapeutic categories. Our staff is fully bilingual and plays an active role ensuring all patients have an equal opportunity to enroll in studies.

CRCs follow studies from regulatory preparation, and participate in developing study advertising too. NICR, cognizant of sponsor objectives, strongly supports our CRCs’ endeavors leading to accelerated study initiation, responsible screening and enrollment.

NICR places great importance on continuous quality-assurance and internal auditing from the first study patient, onwards. Our staff regularly works with electronic data capture, fully supported by our in-house IT professionals. Our offices use customized study management software on secure internal servers backed-up nightly. All CRC stations are web-enabled for study communication.
