Center Overview

Pharmasite Research, Inc., directed by Dr. Alan Jonas, Dr. Robert Lehman and Ms. Surya H. Korn is seeking to participate in Phase II, III and IV clinical trials in the treatment of psychiatric and neurological disorders in the child, adult and geriatric populations. Key therapeutic interests include depression, bipolar disorder, obsessive-compulsive disorder, anxiety, cognitive problems in early to moderate dementia and behavioral problems associated with dementia. Pharmasite Research study coordinators also offer extensive experience in clinical trials of migraine and tension-type headache.

Dr. Alan Jonas and Dr. Robert Lehman, in collaboration with Ms. Korn, offer substantial clinical and pharmaceutical research experience. With access to sizable patient populations and solid experience in clinical trials, Pharmasite Research is committed to the conduct of high quality research and aggressive study enrollment. To date, Pharmasite Research has met or exceeded enrollment goals in all outpatient studies.

Clinical Research Experience

Pharmasite Research, Inc., established in 1999, has served as a site in 10 clinical trials of treatments for depression, dementia, bipolar depression, OCD, Tardive Dyskinesia, and schizophrenia.

Our research staff includes experienced investigators, Study Coordinators, and Psychometricitians with over 25 years of combine experience in conducting clinical trials.

Facility Description

Pharmasite Research, Inc. offers an independent, research-dedicated office suite with six exam and evaluation rooms, administrative offices, a conference room, lab with cryo-freezer, and a large drug and records storage room. Our offices are conveniently located minutes from Baltimore's beltway, I-695, and offers ample free parking. Our suite is adjacent to the medical offices of our Investigators, offering direct and immediate access to the Investigators, as needed by staff and monitors. Research monitors visiting Pharmasite are provided comfortable space to review records, with access to phone, fax and copier.

Pharmasite Research, Inc. collaborates with a major hospital in Baltimore for trials with both an inpatient and outpatient phase. The Hospital provides clinician investigators to conduct the inpatient portion of the study while Pharmasite Research conducts the outpatient portion.

As an independent site, we are able to use a central IRB.

Investigator Experience

Dr. Lehman and Dr. Jonas, both certified by the American Board of Neurology and Psychiatry, head a psychiatric and psychogeriatric management practice serving patients in greater Baltimore, MD and Suburban Washington, D.C. for 20 years. Dr. Jonas also has board certification in geriatric psychiatry. Dr. Jonas and Dr. Lehman maintain a very active private practice in northwestern Baltimore focusing on the psychopharmacologic treatment in child, adult and geriatric patients, of depression, anxiety disorders, dementia and behavioral problems associated with these disorders.

Both Dr. Jonas and Dr. Lehman frequently speak throughout the Mid-Atlantic region on topics related to new developments in antidepressant treatment, atypical antipsychotic treatment, depression in the elderly, behavioral problems in the elderly and in demented patients, cognitive problems in early dementia and the use of anticonfulsants in the geriatric population.

Dr. Lehman and Dr. Jonas have served as Investigators of studies in the following disorders:

  • Major depression
  • Bipolar I depression
  • Chronic depression
  • Obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD)
  • Behavioral disturbances in dementia
  • Vascular dementia
  • Tardive Dyskinesia in elderly patients
  • Cognitive dysfunction
  • Schizophrenia

Staff Expertise

Our Study Coordinators have coordinated more than twenty-five clinical trials of investigational treatments for cognitive decline, dementia, migraine and tension-type headache, Lyme disease, depression and other psychiatric disorders. Many of these studies required site enrollment targets of 300 patients or more. In addition, staff experience includes two successful audits by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration, and in developing key data forms, standardized source documents used in multicenter studies, case report forms (CRF), and patient self-assessment diaries.

Pharmasite also employs experienced Psychometricians who perform psychiatric and neurological rating scales and assessments. These staffpersons may be blinded to all study information, if blinded ratings are required. Other research staff includes a full time study recuriter.
