Arizona Research Center is conveniently located on the I-17 corridor in central Phoenix. Patient satisfaction and convenience is a priority, therefore study coordinators do all study-related blood draws and X-rays on site. Arizona Research Center also has the ability to conduct inpatient studies at a number of local hospitals. Several Valley hospital health-care systems work with Arizona Research Center CRC’s and PI’s to facilitate in-patient study participation.

Joseph S. Gimbel, M.D.
Medical Director, Principal Investigator
Dr. Gimbel attended Duke University and the University of Maryland, receiving his M.D. Degree from the University of Maryland Medical Center. During his residency at the University of Illinois and Presbyterian St. Luke’s Hospital in Chicago, Illinois, Joseph S. Gimbel, M.D. specialized in orthopedic surgery. He continued his extensive training with an international externship at the Rheumatism Foundation Hospital in Finland: one of the world’s largest hospitals that focuses almost exclusively on the treatment of patients with rheumatoid arthritis. His comprehensive experience and expertise supports a special focus on the treatment of industrial and sports injuries - with an exhaustive background in the care of back pain and the management of degenerative osteoarthritis, rheumatoid arthritis, and osteoporosis. As the Medical Director of the Arizona Research Center, Dr. Joseph S. Gimbel, M.D. is involved with every aspect of study implementation, starting with the acquisition of new research protocols. Dr. Gimbel also serves as the Principal Investigator on a large number of studies. He has comprehensive research experience, having participated in over 70 studies, and authored numerous articles for publication in peer-reviewed journals. Dr. Joe, as known by his staff, encourages an enjoyable and stimulating work environment. He expects every employee to maximize their efforts to achieve the goal of collecting excellent data while maintaining the highest level of patient care.
Martin D. Mollen, M.D.
Principal Investigator
Dr. Mollen attended Jefferson Medical College in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, where he received his M.D. degree. He specialized in Internal Medicine during his residency at Good Samaritan Medical Center in Phoenix, Arizona. His training and expertise in clinical practice since 1977 allows him to evaluate, diagnose and treat a multitude of medical problems of adults of all ages, both as in-patient and outpatient status. Dr. Mollen maintains a busy private practice at two offices, in addition to his duties as an Arizona Research Center Principal Investigator. He has participated in over 30 clinical trials, and brings this expertise to all studies he leads.

Regulatory Department
Arizona Research Center’s regulatory specialists process the start-up paperwork rapidly and work diligently to maintain all regulatory documents throughout the study.
Business Development
Principal Investigators and Study Coordinators are aided in study enrollment and recruitment through the work of the business development staff. These employees work diligently to pursue all avenues of patient recruitment and help the Research Center to frequently exceed enrollment standards set by study sponsors.
Clinical Research Coordinators
Arizona Research Center CRC’s work under the direction the PI in the overall, day-to-day management of clinical trials. Team leaders with extensive research experience oversee each coordinator, who can efficiently manage multiple trials.
