Center Overview

The Sherman Health Regional Heart Center
The Sherman Health Regional Heart Center has been serving the cardiovascular needs to the northwest suburbs for over 25 years. Since performing the first open-heart surgery in the state of Illinois in 1972, the Sherman Health Regional Heart Center has preformed over 10,000 open-heart surgeries. We offer a full continuum of care from diagnostic services to cardiac rehabilitation, and were recently named a Solucient 100 Top Cardiovascular Hospital.

Facility Description

The Sherman Heart Center
Sherman Hospital, the regional heart center for the northwest suburbs, ranks third in volume in the Chicagoland area for heart procedures and is celebrating more than 25 years of cardiovascular excellence. Our team of over 30 cardiologists and cardiovascular surgeons perform over 600 open-heart procedures a year. The Sherman Heart Center offers a full continuum of care from diagnostic services to cardiac rehabilitation.

Cancer Care (Oncology)
A place of hope. A place that is comfortable, private and convenient. A place for healing. Sherman offers both an inpatient and outpatient comprehensive chemotherapy treatment program that enable patients to continue their treatment in a familiar setting. The new Cancer Care Center changes the way we can care for our cancer patients by increasing our outpatient chemotherapy treatment areas and providing patients with resources including cancer research studies.

The Sherman Birthing Center
The newly remodeled Birthing Center is comfortable and homelike, yet fully equipped to handle any emergencies that may arise. We offer birthing suites for labor, delivery, and recovery. A Level II with Expanded Capabilities Nursery is available to care for premature and newborns needing additional care.

Sherman Diabetes Center
Recognized by the American Diabetes Association as a Center of Excellence in treating diabetes, the Sherman Diabetes Center works with people with diabetes, their families, and physicians to develop an individual care plan to achieve and maintain lifestyle goals. The Diabetes Center also offers educational programs and support groups for people living with diabetes.

Emergency and Trauma Care
From serious emergencies to personal medical treatment when a family doctor can't be reached, Sherman Hospital's Emergency and Level II Trauma Center unit is open 24 hours a day. Convenient and close to home, Sherman's emergency room is staffed with specially trained doctors who can handle emergencies from diagnosis to treatment.

HealthReach Education and Community Wellness Programs
No matter what your healthcare needs may be, Sherman has the wellness program for you. We focus on healthier living. Weight management, smoking cessation, and childbirth are some of the health topics covered in our class offerings.

Sherman Family HealthCare
The Sherman Family HealthCare facilities in our neighboring communities of Algonquin and Crystal Lake offer a wide array of outpatient services including mammography, a full-service laboratory, and physician offices. These facilities also offer walk-in immediate care to treat injuries and illnesses that are non-life threatening.

Nursing Home Care
Sherman West Court is a 120-bed care facility ideal for people who will benefit from long or short-term continuing medical services or supervision. Sherman West Court promotes total well-being through personal growth, social activities, recovery of abilities and independence.

Orthopedics
Recognized as a Center of Excellence in treating diseases and injuries of muscles, joints and bones, our orthopedic team is dedicated to getting you back on your feet. Sherman offers a full continuum of care including consultation, surgery, and rehabilitation through the Sherman Rehabilitation Network, Sherman Home Care Partners and for long term care, Sherman West Court.

Rehabilitation Network
Services at our rehabilitation centers include physical therapy, occupational therapy, including certified hand therapy, and speech and language pathology, work hardening, exercise physiology, work injury rehabilitation, and physical consultations.

Surgery
From open heart to advanced laser surgery and "band-aid" gallbladder operations, Sherman Hospital's skilled and experienced surgical staff are able to perform both inpatient and outpatient surgeries in just about every specialty.

Women's Services
At Sherman, we offer healthcare designed for every stage of a woman's life. Services include, childbirth preparation, mammography screenings, and osteoporosis treatment.
