For 6 years AVI (AV Institute, Inc.) has served the Pharmaceutical Industry as a full service Clinical Trial Site and In-Patient facility located in Southwest Los Angeles County, California. AVI has extensive experience with Phase I-IV Central Nervous System (CNS) protocols. We have successfully worked on over 100 national and multinational studies in Alzheimer's Dementia, Bipolar Disorder, Schizophrenia, Depression and General Anxiety Disorder among others. Facility Description
Located 15 minutes south of Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) is our outpatient facility. Our dedicated research clinic includes hi-speed Internet, private monitor rooms, clinical lab, ECG/exam room, phlebotomy, secured/temp controlled drug storage/refrigerator/-20 freezer, long-term record storage, centrifuge, copy/fax and dry ice/IATA.
5 minutes from our outpatient facility is our dedicated 15-bed Inpatient facility. AVI has conducted over 35 (Phase I-III) inpatient CNS studies. Our clinical trial unit is staffed with experienced licensed clinical professionals well trained in working with the populations studied. Years of inpatient clinical trial experience went into the design of the inpatient program. We have conducted several Pharmacokinetic, Pharmacogenomic, and QTc sub-studies. In addition to the well-trained research staff is a Quality-Assurance nurse.

Investigator Experience
Joseph Rodd, M.D. began working in clinical trials in 2000, and has performed as an Investigator on over 50 CNS studies. Board Certified in Psychiatry and Neurology, Dr. Rodd has been an active and prominent Psychiatrist in Southwest Los Angeles County for over 20 years. He has privilages at 4 major hospitals, 12 skilled nursing facilities and 4 assisted living facilities. He is well networked with many local psychiatrists, neurologists, cardiologists, and psychologists. As Medical Director and Principal Investigator Dr. Rodd oversees our outpatient clinic, inpatient facility, and supervises all sub-Investigators.

Staff Expertise
Julie Chau, Clinic Manager began her career as an undergraduate research assistant for the Division of Neurosurgery at UCLA. After earning a B.S. in Neuroscience, she began working as a Clinical Research Coordinator at AVI in 2004. She now serves as Clinic Manager, focusing on staff training, protocol adherence, ICH/GCP compliance and quality assurance.
Christina Ferris, Regulatory Documents Coordinator/Office Manager has been our Regulatory Documents Coordinator for over 4 years. Her outstanding attention to detail, and immediate follow-through earned her an Outstanding Service Award in 2005. Ms. Ferris possesses an undergraduate degree in Journalism. In addition to her regulatory duties, Christina manages our business office.
Our site also employs 3 full time coordinators, 2 phlebotomists, 3 community marketing liaisons, several sub-Investigators, a quality assurance nurse, administrative and support staff.

Patient Demographics
Our local community is the most ethnically dense in the nation. Our catchment area (16 mile radius) of 3.1 million represents 40% African American, 30% Caucasian, 20% Latino and 10% Asian, with over 500,000 seniors.
