Center Overview
The Duke Center for Smoking and Cessation Research is a world-renown research center. The Center is led by Jed Rose, Ph.D., co-creator of the nicotine patch.
The Center's Mission is to further the scientific understanding of tobacco addiction and to explore new, more effective treatments to help smokers quit.
CNSCR's studies test investigational approaches, while others investigate the efficacy of using existing treatments in new ways.

Patient Demographics
We offer two types of studies:
1. Lab Studies (subjects age 18-65)
These studies are designed for smokers who are not necessarily ready to quit. The information gathered will help researchers better understand the biological causes addiction.
2. Quit Studies (subjects age 18-65)
These studies are designed for people who want to quit smoking by using the most effective cessation treatments. Nicotine replacement is often used with other therapies to render cigarettes less enjoyable.
