Center Overview
MeritCare Health System is an integrated clinic and hospital system headquartered in Fargo, N.D. Founded in the early 1900s as Fargo Clinic and St. Luke’s Hospital, MeritCare has evolved into the region’s premier health care system.
Today, MeritCare consists of the largest group practice in North Dakota with nearly 400 physicians and more than 170 physician assistants and advanced practice nurses specializing in 73 areas of medicine. Over 1.4 million patient visits take place at MeritCare each year.

Clinical Research Experience
MeritCare has been a leader in clinical research for over 20 years. Today, approximately 20 subspecialty clinical trials and 100 clinical trials at MeritCare Roger Maris Cancer Center are open for enrollment. These trials give patients access to the latest in treatments and drugs that would not otherwise be available.

Facility Description
As one hospital in two locations, MeritCare Medical Center and MeritCare South University are North Dakota’s largest hospital with 583 beds, including a 56-bed Children’s Hospital. Each year, MeritCare has over 20,000 admissions, more than 42,000 Emergency Center visits and over 16,000 surgical cases. MeritCare’s service area spans 250 miles and includes 25 regional clinics.
