Florida Research Network, LLC (FRN) is a dedicated full time research facility located in Gainesville Florida. FRN is set up for conducting large complex clinical research studies. This site is staffed with two experienced Principal Investigators and numerous Sub-investigators.

Marcia O. Miller, MD and Kurt Malphurs BSN started conducting clinical trials together in late 1998 and formed Florida Research Network in 1999. Dr Miller is a board certified Family Practitioner has been the principal investigator on over 75 large clinical trials.

Florida Research Network is committed to providing high quality medical care to it's patients while collecting accurate research data for its pharmaceutical sponsors.

Florida Research Network, LLC has successfully completed over 50 Phase II - IV pharmaceutical drug trials and often enrolls more than the minimum number of contracted patients. Having a large number of family practice patients in our database and maintaining a close relationship with many local physicians facilitates enrollment in multiple therapeutic areas.

Marcia O. Miller, M.D.
Principal Investigator

Dr Miller graduated from Iowa State University Cum Laude in 1981 and the University of Iowa College of Medicine in 1985. She then completed the Family Practice Residency program at the University of Florida College of Medicine in 1988. Dr Miller served as an investigator on her first clinical trial in 1990 and has extensive experience in all areas of Clinical Research. She served as a member of the North Florida Regional Medical Center IRB from1988 to 2000. Dr Miller served as the Chairman for the Department of Medicine North Florida Regional Medical Center from 1998 to 2000. She was elected Vice Chief of Medical Staff in 1999 and Later Chief of Medical staff in 2000. Dr Miller currently holds the position of Clinical Assistant Professor at the University of Florida College of Medicine. Dr Miller works closely with the clinical staff of Florida Research Network on a daily basis.

Robert Grady Ashley, Jr. M.D.
Principal Investigator

Dr Ashley has been a member of the greater Gainesville area since 1959 He Graduated from a local High School (PK Young) in 1963. He then obtained his BS from the University of Florida in 1967 as well as his MD in 1971. He completed Surgery Internship at Shands Hospital in 1972 as well as a surgery Residence in 1973. Dr Ashley also completed his family Practice Residency through Shands at Alachua General Hospital in 1975 serving a Chief Resident during his final year. Dr Ashley has served as a clinical Instructor for the University of Florida College of medicine Department of Community Health and Family. Dr Ashley has been in Private Practice since 1975 and maintains a very large local clinical practice. He holds current medical license in Florida, Georgia, South Carolina and Louisiana as well as being Board Certified in Family Practice. Dr Ashley has served a investigator for over 30 clinical trials and works closely with the study staff on a daily basis.

Florida Research Network, LLC has a large, diverse population and excels in the recruitment of patients for large studies. This is due to the fact that Gainesville is located in North Central Florida, home to most of the areas medical resources including 4 major medical centers. The University of Florida is located here in Gainesville and enables enrollment from a younger population and at the same time is home to a large number of retirees over the age of 65. This unique setting results in the over enrollment of most major studies. Patient enrollment comes from our own patient database, physician referral, advertising (TV, Radio, Print, Internet), direct mail and community relations (health screenings and event promotion).
