Center Overview
The University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey - School of Osteopathic Medicine is an academic medical center founded in 1976. The UMDNJ-School of Osteopathic Medicine is dedicated to providing the highest quality medical education, research and health care services. An underlying emphasis on primary health care in all areas of SOM's Mission reflects the School's deep ties to its Osteopathic philosophy. The School is committed to developing compassionate physicians from the broadest spectrum of background, themselves dedicated to becoming leaders in their communities and in clinical and academic medicine.
SOM has also placed great emphasis on increasing its base from sponsored research, clinical drug studies and educational grants. In the last ten years SOM has more than doubled its funding from outside sponsors.
The University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey-School of Osteopathic Medicine, (UMDNJ-SOM) ranks as one of the leaders in the nation among the 19 osteopathic medical schools for research funding.

Facility Description
The University of Medicine and Dentistry- School of Osteopathic Medicine is a multi-specialty University Center. We are affiliated with the Kennedy Health System, with divisions in Stratford, Cherry Hill and Washington Township.
The University Doctors, of the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey - School of Osteopathic Medicine, are part of the community with nearly 60 clinical offices located over 10 communities and five counties in Southern New Jersey.
Our doctors are faculty members at the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey, the nations largest independent public health sciences university and offer the latest advances in medical care.
We are equipped to facilitate inpatient and outpatient studies. We have dedicated specialty centers in the following areas, the Center for Aging, Center for Children's Support, University Back Pain Center, University Headache Center and the Vein Care Institute.
We are just 20 minutes from Center City Philadelphia and 25 minutes from the Philadelphia Airport. There is easy access to UMDNJ-SOM from I-95, I-295 and the New Jersey Turnpike.

We provide care for pediatrics to geriatrics, with primary care in the Departments of Internal Medicine, Pediatrics, Family Medicine and Obstetrics and Gynecology and Gerentology. The Institutional Review Board at UMDNJ-SOM Stratford supports research by offering regulatory and administrative assistance and training to the local investigator community. The IRB is part of a University-wide Human Subjects Protection Program with three campus-based IRB systems, education, and a monitoring component.
