Tucson is home to approximately 800,000 permanent residents and 60,000 University students. Of the permanent residents, about 25% are Hispanic, 3% are Black, 3% Asian, 2% American Indian and the remainder White. Drawing from about 1.5 million residents
In the winter months, the estimated population exceeds 1,000,000 residents due to the mild climate during that time of year.
Tucson has a highly educated, young and dynamic work force with the average age of 32.8 years of age.
Arizona is one of the fastest growing states in the nation. From the years 2000 to 2003, the population of Arizona residents over the age 64 increased by 47,000.
Our patient demographics reflect the unique cultural and ethnic diversity present in the Southwest. About 1/3 of the population in Pima County is Hispanic. Additionally, this region has a rapidly growing Native American population, with the largest Indian reservation in the country is located in Southern Arizona.
