Our 12,000 square foot state-of-the-art, dedicated research facility is centrally located within DeLand’s expansive medical community and in close proximity to two major medical centers.
University Clinical Research DeLand is conveniently located within easy driving distance of three international airports: Orlando (forty-five miles), Sanford (thirty miles), and Daytona Beach (twenty-five miles).
Phase I
Our spacious 40 bed Phase I unit with wireless telemetry is devoted to patient comfort and convenience. The three private patient dormitories are tastefully furnished with comfortable beds, storage for personal items, full shower and restroom facilities, and a washer and dryer. To make our Phase I patients feel at home, the unit includes a well-equipped kitchen and dining area, a patient lounge with couches and recliners, and a cheerful day room. A wide-screen plasma TV and Satellite/ VCR/DVD unit, a cabinet stocked with games and movies, and a covered outdoor patio provide for endless entertainment and relaxation. Our Phase I facility also houses a procedure room with phlebotomy accommodations, an intravenous staging area, dedicated phone lines, and continuous power source for remote electronic data transmissions.

Phase II /IV
Our adjoining facility is comprised of 7 fully-equipped exam rooms, including a spirometry suite, full x-ray facilities, temperature controlled, key card access, locked drug storage room, dedicated book room, 16 coordinator offices, 6 monitoring areas with telephone and fax/modem lines, physician charting area, quality assurance, recruiting and community outreach offices, business office, and reception area. The TV/VCR combination in our comfortable patient waiting room is not only entertaining for our patients but also proves very useful in patient as well as employee education and training. Our CLIA accredited laboratory includes a -70° freezer, refrigerated centrifuge, locked refrigerated drug storage space, as well as 4 drawing stations and ample processing area. And finally, our comfortable kitchen/break room is a great place for our staff and monitors alike to get together and relax.

ALBERT J. RAZZETTI, MD-- Board Certified in Internal Medicine and Pulmonary Medicine. Dr. Razzetti is the current Chairman of Pharmacy and Therapeutics, Director of Pulmonary Services, and Director of Respiratory Care at Florida Hospital DeLand. He has been involved in research for over 14 years and has been conducting trials at our facility since 1998.
BRUCE G. RANKIN, DO, CPI -- Board Certified in Osteopathic Medicine and Surgery, Diplomat of the National Board of Osteopathic Medicine, and ACRP Certified Clinical Research Investigator. Dr. Rankin is Vice Chief of Medicine at Florida Hospital DeLand. He has been conducting research since he joined our facility in 1999.
JOHN M. HILL, MD, RRT, CPI -- Board Certified in Family Medicine. Diplomat of the American Board of Family Medicine. Family Medicine Teacher of the Year. Dr. Hill joined our outstanding group of investigators in 2005.
LUC-MARIE REGINALD SCHUTT-AINE, MD -- Board Certified in Internal Medicine ~ Board Eligible in Infectious Diseases. Dr. Schutt-Aine has been conducting research since he joined our facility in 1999.
ANDREW C. FELDMAN, DO -- Board Certified American College of Osteopathic Family Physicians. Dr. Feldman has been practicing family medicine for 20 years. He has been involved in research since joining our facility in 2002.
LAWRENCE MICHAEL GILLIARD, MD -- Board Certified in Internal Medicine and Pulmonary Medicine. Dr. Gilliard serves as Director of the Intensive Care Unit at Florida Hospital DeLand. Dr. Gilliard has recently joined our outstanding group of investigators.
GEORGE T. BESONG, MD, RPH --Board Eligible in Obstetrics and Gynecology. Dr. Besong has been conducting research since 2001 and recently joined our outstanding group of investigators.
THOMAS M. CORBYONS, MD, FACS -- Board Certified in General Surgery. Dr. Corbyons has been conducting research since he joined our facility in 1999.
IN ADDITION, many other well-known area physicians, specializing in a variety of fields, work closely with us, as sub-investigators, to ensure expeditious and precise clinical trial management.
ALL of our investigators and sub-investigators are thoroughly trained and most are bi-lingual.

We maintain a comprehensive database of over 50,000 clinical research volunteers and have access to potential subjects from our investigators’ private practices. Additionally our patient recruiters attend local community healthfair’s and conduct semi annual open house events at UCRD.
