Center Overview
Milestone Medical Research, Inc. was founded in November 2006 by Oscar A. Aguirre, MD. Dr. Aguirre is one of a select few highly qualified, fellowship-trained urogynecologists in the country. Our research team was formerly an integrated component of Dr. Aguirre’s private practice, "Urogynecology Associates of Colorado." However, a number of significant changes occurred this past fall. Dr. Aguirre changed the name of his private practice to "Pelvic Specialty Care: The Center for Female Pelvic Medicine," to more accurately describe whom he serves. He created Milestone Medical Research, Inc. as a separate entity to accommodate the growth and diversity in his research program. Even with all of these changes, it is reassuring to know that some things remain the same. Dr. Aguirre continues to be our Medical Director and Principal Investigator. Our dedication to excellence in medical research remains steadfast.
Since 1992, Dr. Aguirre has been actively involved in clinical research. Several therapeutic medications and devices have since been FDA approved and available for prescription.

Clinical Research Experience

Facility Description
We are equipped with multichannel urodynamics, cystourethroscopy, ultrasound, colposcope, microscope, freezer, centrifuge, autoclave, and all necessary equipment for a medical/gynecologic office.
Our 2,000 square foot office provides ample space for patient visits, locked drug storage, lab, file storage, CRC offices, and monitors’ work areas. Archived study materials are stored at an off-site location nearby. Principal Investigator is on the premises.
We are 30 minutes from the Denver International Airport and 30 minutes from downtown Denver. We are centrally located around Colorado’s largest cities: 30 minutes from Boulder, 1 hour from Colorado Springs, and 1 hour from Fort Collins.

Investigator Experience
Principal Investigator:
Oscar A. Aguirre, M.D., FACOG (Director)
Dr. Aguirre received his Doctor of Medicine from the University of Colorado Health Sciences Center, and completed a residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology at the University of Kansas School of Medicine, serving as Administrative Chief Resident in his final year. He received fellowship training in Urogynecology and Reconstructive Pelvic Surgery at Colorado Gynecology & Continence Center under the tutelage of G. Willy Davila, M.D. Since completing his Fellowship, he has been Director of Urogynecology Associates of Colorado actively involved in Resident education and clinical research. He is a member of the American Urogynecologic Association, the International Urogynecologic Association, International Continence Society, and American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology.
Dr. Aguirre has an interest in the surgical and non-surgical treatment of urinary incontinence and pelvic organ prolapse. He is active in clinical research, having served as Principal or Sub-Investigator in over 50 scientific studies.
Sub-Investigator
Marci K. Klaassen, M.S.N.
Ms. Klaassen obtained her Bachelor and Master of Science in Nursing with a graduate specialty in obstetrics and gynecology from the University of Pennsylvania. She worked as a nurse practitioner in obstetrics and gynecology for four years before further specializing in urogynecology. She is certified by the National Certification Corporation as a Women's Health Care Nurse Practitioner and is a member of the Society of Urologic Nurses and Associates and the National Association of Nurse Practitioners in Women's Health. She has an interest in the non-surgical management of urinary conditions, pelvic organ prolapse, and bladder sensitivity disorders as well as diagnostic procedures in urogynecology. She serves as a subinvestigator in multiple clinical research trials.

Patient Demographics
Our busy practice provides the majority of the study subjects. We select studies that complement our practice profile. In addition to practice patients, we have competitively filled study quotas with subjects identified through newspaper and radio advertisements, fliers, and talks to community groups and referring physicians. All referrals to our practice are for evaluation of incontinence, pelvic relaxation, voiding dysfunction, sexual dysfunction, pelvic pain.
All patients are female, age 14-100.
