Overview

Founded in 1988, New Horizons Clinical Research (NHCR) is a dedicated clinical research center providing high quality clinical research to the Greater Cincinnati area. The Cincinnati metropolitan area has a population of 2.1 million. NHCR has two research sites; one in Blue Ash and the other in Kenwood. Over the last five years, NHCR has conducted over 130 clinical trials powered by its proprietary patient database.

NHCR-Blue Ash is a dedicated Phase 2 through 4 research site, while the NHCR-Kenwood site conducts Phase 1 and 2 extended stay and overnight trials. Both sites are located just 15 minutes north of the downtown area and only 30 minutes from the Northern Kentucky / Cincinnati International Airport.

At NHCR, we are dedicated to the most important attributes of successful research – integrity, quality, and professionalism. Our investigators and coordinators have extensive experience and are certified in clinical research and our staff completes annual GCP training.

Facility

Our Facilities are conveniently located in the center of Blue Ash, close to highways and hospitals. We have good working relationships with local hospitals in areas such as clinical laboratory, emergency department, imaging (X-ray, MRI, DEXA, CAT scan) and dietary services.

Blue Ash Facility

NHCR has a state-of-the-art facility with outstanding medical capabilities. We have six exam rooms, on-site specimen processing lab, biological sample refrigerators and freezers, vaccine refrigerator, state-of-the-art computer network, fully equipped monitoring suite, RDC access, secure record and drug storage space. We also have emergency equipment, an infusion room, ECG, spirometry and pulse oximetry.

Kenwood / Overnight Facility

Our Overnight Facility can accommodate up to 24 subjects, with state-of-the-art full amenities for both study volunteers and sponsors. Important Phase 1 site features:
  • Located about one mile from an Emergency Department (Jewish Hospital) and less than one and a half miles from Emergency Responders (Blue Ash Fire Department) Trained, experienced Phase 1 research staff
  • Board-certified principal investigators and sub-investigators

    Investigator

    Gregory M. Gottschlich, MD, FAAAI, FACAAI, CPI

    Founder and Medical Director of New Horizons Clinical Research, Dr. Gottschlich is Board Certified in Internal Medicine with a sub-specialty in Allergy, Asthma & Immunology. He is a Certified Physician Investigator and has been conducting clinical trials since 1988. He received his medical degree from the College of Medicine at the Ohio State University and served as the president of the Cincinnati Allergy Society and the Ohio Society of Allergy, Asthma and Immunology. Dr. Gottschlich is a fellow of the American College of Allergy, Asthma and Immunology and the American Academy of Allergy, Asthma and Immunology. As a certified clinical researcher and medical director of New Horizons Clinical Research Center, Dr. Gottschlich has conducted more than 450 clinical trials.

    Michael G. Pordy, MD

    Dr. Pordy is a board certified in rheumatology and internal medicine. He has been conducting clinical trials since 1985 and has been with the New Horizons’ Investigator team since 2006. Dr. Pordy received his medical degree from Saint Louis University School of Medicine. He completed his fellowship in rheumatology at the University of Cincinnati College of Medicine. Dr. Pordy’s research interests include osteoarthritis, chronic back pain, fibromyalgia and osteoporosis. He has conducted over 30 clinical trials.

    Elizabeth A.L. Muennich, MD, PhD, FAAD

    Dr. Muennich is Board Certified in Dermatology. She attended Columbia University earning an AB in Neuroscience. Dr. Muennich completed her MD and PhD from Wright State University in Dayton, Ohio. Dr. Muennich is a fellow of the American Academy of Dermatology. She served as a Chief Resident in Dermatology from 2008-2009. Dr. Muennich joined the New Horizons Investigator team in 2016 and focuses on dermatology research trials.

    Peter A. Boxer, MD, MPH, MSc

    Dr. Boxer is Board Certified in Psychiatry, Addiction Psychiatry, and Occupational Medicine. He received his medical degree from the State University of New York, Downstate Medical Center, and completed his psychiatry training at the University of Cincinnati College of Medicine. He holds graduate degrees in epidemiology from the Johns Hopkins School of Public Health and in biochemistry from the Weizmann Institute of Science. While at the National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health, he conducted research studies on toxic exposures in the workplace and on workplace stress. Dr. Boxer’s current research interest focuses on clinical psychiatric trials.

    Jeanette A. Dickhaus, MS, CNP, FNP-BC

    Ms. Dickhaus is board certified as a family nurse practitioner. She has been conducting clinical trials since 2002 with the New Horizons’ Investigator team. Ms. Dickhaus received her family nurse practitioner degree from Wright State University College of Nursing and Health. She has served as a sub-investigator in over 250 clinical trials.

    Lacy Korte, PA-C

    Ms. Korte is a certified physician assistant. She has been conducting clinical trials since 2014 and has been with the New Horizons’ Investigator team since 2015. Ms. Korte received her degree as a physician assistant from Trevecca Nazarene University in Nashville, TN. She has served as a sub-investigator in over 40 clinical trials.

    Patients

    New Horizons Clinical Research has a large, active database of 32,000 subjects who are interested in volunteering for clinical trials, including those who have been reliable patients in the past. Our database is constantly expanding through continuous marketing with television, print, radio, direct mail, and internet advertising.

    We have full-time staff dedicated to recruiting participants for trials. The staff speak directly with potential subjects on a daily basis. Our physician investigators, by actively screening potential participants, enhance our database regularly. Special populations are readily available for seasonal and perennial allergic rhinitis, asthma, COPD, diabetes, osteoarthritis, gout, chronic low back pain, chronic pain, hypertension, and hypercholesterolemia when rapid enrollment is needed.
