WE ARE DEDICATED TO MANAGING CLINICAL RESEARCH TRIALS WITH INTEGRITY AND PROFESSIONALISM.

Med Research One is a privately owned Principal Investigator Site who work collaboratively in conducting clinical research trials. We have multiple offices throughout the St. Louis, Missouri metropolitan area. Our volunteer participant database is extensive with over 35,000 people. Our team consists of certified research professionals helping to improve lives through the advancement of new drug therapies and medical devices. Our high quality services can be customized to meet the individual needs of the clinical trial and the site.

We provide all the necessary resources, including research staff and equipment in the office to maximize compliance and convenience. By providing these services in the physician's office, physician oversight and availability is enhanced, medical records remain on site for immediate access and to assure confidentiality, and patient and physician confidence levels and convenience are maximized. Our team has over 200 years of medical clinical experience. We provide the infrastructure and the trained and skilled personnel to manage specialized trials. We provide seasoned professionals with therapeutic and operational experience in Regulatory, Recruitment, Budgets/Contracts and Coordination. Our Clinical Coordinators are certified and have degrees in a variety of medical areas, including nursing. All Med Research One employees are extensively trained in GCP and research, as well as patient care, in order to elevate site performance and enhance the patient's experience. Our SOP’s are thorough and specific to the clinical research industry.

    Med Research One has the abilities and experience to perform phase 2-4 studies in its office with a satellite office that allows the accommodation of additional patients in various areas of the St. Louis market.

  • Investigator Experience

    W. Stephen Knapp, DO., F.A.C.O.F.P (Principal Investigator)

    Dr. Knapp graduated from Kirksville College of Osteopathic Medicine and performed his residency at Normandy Osteopathic Hospital. He is certified by American Board of Family Medicine and American Board of General Practice; as well as Board Certified in Geriatrics. He specialized in Family Medicine in private practice. In 1998, he joined Esse Health continuing his Family Medicine with a sub specialty in Geriatrics with one of the largest practices in the St. Louis area. Dr. Knapp became a Principal Investigator/Sub-Investigator in 2013. Dr. Knapp has been awarded Recognition by the National Committee for Quality Assurance (NCQA) and the American Diabetes Association for patient care in Diabetes. NCQA, in partnership with the American Diabetes Association, developed the Diabetes Recognition Program to recognize clinicians who have met standards demonstrating delivery of high quality care to patients with diabetes.

    Dr. Knapp has been awarded Recognition by the National Committee for Quality and Assurance (NCAQ) and the American Heart Association/American Stroke Association for the Heart/Stroke for patient care in heart disease and/or stroke. NCQA, in partnership with the American Heart Association/American Stroke Association, developed the Heart/Stroke Recognition Program to recognize clinicians who have met standards demonstrating delivery of high quality care to patients with cardiovascular disease and/or stroke.

    Cindy Perkins, FNP (Sub-Investigator)

    Cindy Perkins is certified with American Nurses Credentialing Center and Family Nurse Practitioner. She graduated from Missouri Baptist School of Nursing and continued on to earn a BSN and MSN, Family Nurse Practitioner from University of Missouri. She spent 18 years at Christian Hospitals in various roles including Emergency Room Staff Nurse and Charge Nurse, Intensive Care Staff Nurse, and Post Anesthesia Recovery Nurse. In 1999, she joined Esse Health/Office of Dr. W. Stephen Knapp Family Practice and continues the family practice today. Cindy joined Medical Research One in 2015 as a Clinical Research Sub-Investigator.     Elizabeth Ann Gordon, FNP (Sub-Investigator)

    Beth Gordon is a Certified Family Nurse Practitioner, Registered Nurse, and BLS certified with the American Heart Association. She earned a BS, Nursing from University of Virginia and a MSN from Maryville University. She spent 14 years at various nursing roles including Surgical Staff Nurse, Clinical Nurse Instructor, and Case Manager . In 2014, she joined Esse Health/Office of Dr. W. Stephen Knapp and Dr. Miranda Family Practice and continues the family practice today. Beth joined Medical Research One in 2015 as a Clinical Research Sub-Investigator.

    Staff Expertise

    Tracey Lane Gniewek, RN, CEN

    Tracey has an Associates Degree in Nursing and is a Certified Emergency Nurse and BLS certified with years of hands-on patient care experience including Emergency/Trauma and ICU nursing. She completed Trauma Nurse Core Courses (TNCC) and Emergency Nursing Pediatric Courses (ENPC). Tracey is Certified in Essential GCP and completed INC Research IATA. She spent a full year of hands-on training under a Clinical Research Director and has independently managed multiple clinical trials.

    Jennifer Tison Lauer

    Jennifer Lauer earned a BS, Health Services and Administration from University of Southern Indiana, a Masters of Science, Occupational Therapy from Washington University, and a Transitional Doctorate in Occupational Therapy from University of St. Augustine and a Post-Masters certification in Low Vision from University of Alabama-Birmingham. She is also Certified in Phlebotomy. Jennifer has over 20 years experience working in the Occupational Therapy industry. Jennifer is NIDA Clinical Trials Network, Good Clinical Practices Certified and completed Intro to Clinical Research, GCP, Human Subjects Protections, Clinical Research Billing, and Research Misconduct from Northwestern University, Clinical & Translational Sciences Institute (NUCATS)
