SC Clinical Research LLC. (SCCR) is an independent research center established in 2002. SCCR is associated with SC Nephrology and Hypertension Center, Inc. (SCNH), a large nephrology practice with a database of around 10,000 patients, that manages patients locally and at multiple dialysis centers and clinics throughout the central South Carolina.

Due to its working relationship with Fresenius Dialysis Centers and Vascular Access Institute, SCNH has access to over 20 nephrologists and over 3,500 Dialysis patients. This relationship, along with its principal investigators, staff, and research facilities, has made SCCR an established presence throughout Central South Carolina.

Clinical Research Experience

Our organization brings over 15 years of experience in clinical research with approximately 150 clinical trials completed since inception. Time after time we have been recognized as one of the high performing, high enrolling sites in the field of Renal Research. Our staff is lead by our Research Director and consists of 4 experienced Clinical Research Coordinators and 1 Research Assistant.

SCCR also partners with Frenova Renal Research to conduct clinical trials. Frenova Renal Research, a Fresenius Medical Care North America company, is the only Phase I-IV drug and device clinical development services provider dedicated exclusively to renal research. Frenova provides access to the largest renal research site network in the world. SCCR is a member of the Frenova F1RST Up alliance, a highly select group of sites chosen for their expertise in renal research and track record of rapid patient recruitment and retention.

Investigator Experience

As CEO , Dr. Moustafa is responsible for the vision and growth of SC Clinical Research. Under his leadership, the clinical research company has grown from a staff of one to 16 medical and clinical research professionals today, helping connect thousands of patients to new treatment options for multiple medical conditions. Today, SCCR is the leading independent, multi-therapeutic research company in South Carolina.

Over the past fifteen years, Dr. Moustafa also has served as the principal investigator for over 90 percent of the studies conducted at SCCR and has led over 150 clinical research studies. Before trials are offered to participants, he ensures the selected studies meet the highest standards and that each patient receives outstanding care throughout their participation in the trials.

Dr. Moustafa has established relationships with many South Carolina physicians groups that specialize in Internal Medicine, Cardiology, Urology, Gastroenterology and more. This trust in Dr. Moustafa and SCCR allows access to a large participant pool and specialty medical services needed for success in clinical trials.

He is also the owner of SC Nephrology and Hypertension Center, Inc. ( SCNH) which specializes in Nephrology. He established this practice in 2002. He received his Medical Degree from Cairo University in Cairo, Egypt. He completed his residency in Internal Medicine at Western Reserve Care System in Youngstown, OH and Nephrology Fellowship at Medical University of South Carolina in Charleston, SC.
