Our investigators have years of experience in clinical research working on studies conducted by industry sponsors, investigator initiated trials and collaborating on written publications that contribute to the current body of medical knowledge. Our investigators have participated in trials involving medical device, pharmaceuticals, biologics, combination products and registries.

Facility Description

The Bronson Neuroscience Center is uniquely positioned within Bronson Methodist Hospital, a Level I Trauma Care Center, where patients are seen in both inpatient and outpatient settings. Patients have access to extensive imaging services, EMG, EEG and sleep lab. Our research team has access to laboratory equipment including centrifuge, refrigerator, -20 and -70 freezers for the processing, storing, and shipping of study samples.

Martinson Arnan, MD
Dr. Arnan is as neurologist with the Bronson Neuroscience Center. He is board certified in neurology with a subspecialty in vascular neurology.

Eric Ashman, MD
Dr. Ashman is a neurologist with the Bronson Neuroscience Center. He is board certified in neurology with a subspecialty certification in sleep medicine.

Alain Fabi, MD
Dr. Fabi is a neurosurgeon with the Bronson Neuroscience Center. He is board certified in neurological surgery.
Research Experience & Areas of Interest- Stroke (spasticity) management; spinal cord injury; degenerative disc disease; posterolateral fusion; instrumented lumbar surgery; traumatic brain injury; chronic back/limb pain; lumbar interbody fusion; cerebrovascular aneurysm; post-operative outcome for disc fusion and laminectomy; deep brain stimulation of Parkinson’s disease and other neurologic issues.

Dennis Jewett, MD
Dr. Jewett is a neurologist with the Bronson Neuroscience Center. He is board certified in neurology.
Research Experience & Areas of Interest- Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS, Lou Gehrig's disease); Parkinson's disease; and other topics in neuromuscular disease.

Paula Kilmer, MD
Dr. Kilmer is a physiatrist with the Bronson Neuroscience Center. She is board certified in physical medicine and rehabilitation.
Research Experience & Areas of Interest- Prenatal cytogenic abnormalities and dementia; physical medicine and rehabilitative pain management; complementary and alternative medicine.

Dean Kindler, MD
Dr. Kindler is a neurologist with the Bronson Neuroscience Center. He is board certified in neurology with a subspecialty certification in vascular neurology.
Research Experience & Areas of Interest- Acute ischemic stroke; prevention of second stroke; transient ischemic attack; intracranial disease; and antiplatelet stroke prevention.

Jeffrey Miller, MD
Dr. Miller is a neurointerventional surgeon with the Bronson Neuroscience Center. He is board certified in diagnostic radiology.
Research Experience & Areas of Interest- Brain aneurysms; arteriovenous malformations; endovascular repair of carotid / vertebral and intracranial stenosis; vasospasm and mechanical thrombectomy for acute ischemic stroke; spinal arteriovenous / dural fistulae; compression fractures; kyphoplasty; sacral insufficiency fractures and Sacroplasty.

Yanny Phillips, DO, PhD
Dr. Phillips is a neurologist with the Bronson Neuroscience Center. She is board certified in neurology.
Research Experience & Areas of Interest- Neuro-opthamological disease.

Melissa Radawski, MD
Dr. Radawski is a physiatrist with the Bronson Neuroscience Center. She is board certified in physical medicine and rehabilitation.
Research Experience & Areas of Interest- Traumatic and non-traumatic brain injury; spinal cord injury; spasticity management; traumatic brain injury-related rehabilitation.

Chris Sloffer, MD
Dr. Sloffer is a neurosurgeon with the Bronson Neuroscience Center. He is board certified in neurological surgery.
Research Experience & Areas of Interest- Intracerebral hemorrhage; brain tumors; head trauma; myelopathy; and radiculopathy.

Jon Walsh, MD, FACS, MPH
Dr. Walsh is a trauma surgeon with Bronson Trauma Surgery Services. He is board certified in surgery.
Research Experience & Areas of Interest- Optimizing resuscitation after traumatic brain injury; use of hypertonic fluids in hemorrhagic shock and brain injury; inflammatory mediators in sepsis and hemorrhagic shock; trauma systems design and implementation; traumatic spinal cord injury; concussion evaluation and management; and electronic health record technology in improving patient care.

Daryl Warder, MD
Dr. Warder is a neurosurgeon with the Bronson Neuroscience Center. He is board certified in neurological surgery and specializes in pediatric neurological surgery.
Research Experience & Areas of Interest-pediatric Intracerebral hemorrhage and hydrocephalus.

Joseph Wheeler, PhD
Dr. Wheeler is a clinical psychologist with a subspecialty in neuropsychology with the Bronson Neuroscience Center.
Research Experience & Areas of Interest- Cognitive and behavioral functioning in dementia; and other neurobehavioral disorders.

Gregory Wiggins, MD
Dr. Wiggins is a neurosurgeon with the Bronson Neuroscience Center. He is board certified in neurological surgery.
Research Experience & Areas of Interest- Degenerative disc disease; posterolateral fusion; traumatic brain injury; chronic back / limb pain; and lumbar interbody fusion.

Mark G. Goetting, MD
Dr. Goetting is neurologist at Bronson Neuroscience Center and serves as the medical director of Bronson Sleep Health. He is board certified in neurology, pediatrics, sleep medicine and obesity medicine.
Research Experience & Areas of Interest- Sleep medicine, non-invasive ventilation, cognitive impairment/dementia, neurological monitoring, dyslipidemia and lifestyle medicine.

Kelly Ybema, MD
Dr. Ybema is a neurologist with the Bronson Neuroscience Center. She is board certified in neurology.
Research Experience & Areas of Interest- Multiple sclerosis; Parkinson’s disease; and acute stroke.

Simeon Zou, MD
Dr. Zou is a neurologist with the Bronson Neuroscience Center. He is board certified in neurology.
Research Experience & Areas of Interest- Central nervous system neuroprotection; cancer stem cell biology and therapeutic targeting; gene therapy; immunotherapy for cancer of GI and ovary; central nervous system vasculitis; tai chi for improvement of Parkinson’s disease functionality; and dietary supplement for neuroprotection in patients with neurodegenerative disease.

Staff Expertise

Our clinical research team is made up of certified clinical research coordinators and nurses. All research personnel, including investigators, are required to maintain Human Subjects Protection and GCP training through NIH or CITI. Additionally, our coordinators maintain IATA certification for the shipping of biological substances. Our team employs a streamlined process for study start up activities, designating our director of clinical operations as the primary point of contact; providing sponsors with a simplified and efficient clinical study life cycle, from start-up to closure. Our research nurse and coordinators have over 25 years of combined experience conducting clinical trials.
