Boise Kidney & Hypertension Institute (BKHI) is a group of dedicated physicians in the Treasure Valley specializing in the care of patients with renal disease to include dialysis, chronic kidney disease (CKD), transplantation, and vascular access. Our team has written and conducted investigator initiated trials in addition to many pharmaceutical sponsored clinical research trials. BKHI has historically met or exceeded enrollment goals for our clinical trials. In 2012 BKHI formed a partnership with Frenova Renal Research to conduct clinical trials in southern Idaho.

Boise Kidney & Hypertension Institute (BKHI) has 10+ years of experience in conducting research in Nephrology to include all aspects of Chronic Kidney Disease (CKD) and End Stage Renal Disease (ESRD-Dialysis). BKHI has conducted phase II-IV clinical trials at our four sites in many indications, including the following:

Investigator Experience



Boise Kidney & Hypertension Institute's physicians work under the direction of Principal Investigator, Arnold L. Silva, MD, PhD. Dr. Silva has over 20+ years of investigative and clinical experience. Dr. Silva is a board certified Nephrologist.

Dr. Silva as the Principal Investigator is involved with every aspect of each clinical research trial and expects all employees to maximize their efforts to achieve the goal of collecting excellent quality data while maintaining the highest level of patient care.

Frenova Renal Research works along side Boise Kidney & Hypertension Institute. All Frenova coordinators are Certified Clinical Research Coordinators (CCRC) committed to the highest professional standards of patient safety, data quality, and best practices in clinical research.

Patient Demographics

Boise Kidney has a patient population of 6000+ patients treated in our private practices and affiliated dialysis centers. BKHI has three clinic's for Chronic Kidney Disease patients with stage 1-5 (CKD) & four dialysis facilities for End Stage Renal Disease (ESRD).
