Center Overview

We are a private practice who also conducts clinical trials. We've been caring for patients from throughout Western North Carolina since 1979. Our 14 experienced and Board-certified physicians and 4 mid-level practitioners provide a full range of office and hospital-based diagnostic and therapeutic services for lung diseases, respiratory problems and sleep disorders. Patients have the convenience of undergoing testing in the office, including complete pulmonary function analysis, ABGs (arterial blood gases) and chest X-rays.

Asheville Pulmonary is affiliated with Mission Hospitals to offer evaluation and treatment of all sleep disorders, including intermittent cessation of respiration during sleep and excessive snoring. Mission Hospitals Sleep Center has a 15 bed state-of-the-art sleep testing lab and CPAP (continuous positive airway pressure) clinic for patients with obstructive sleep apnea.

Asheville Pulmonary’s Critical Care specialists work in the hospital setting, treating patients who require artificial means for breathing or aggressive treatment for infection or shock.

Clinical Research Experience

Physicians in our office have been involved in different clinical trials since 2009. We are excited about significantly growing our clinical research program!

The Pulmonary diseases we specialize in include; COPD, Emphysema, Idiopathic Pulmonary Fibrosis, Asthma, Smoking Cessation, Bronchiectasis, Alpha-1 Antitrypsin Deficiency, Pulmonary Hypertension and Sleep Disorders.

As part of his fellowship at Duke University, one of our physicians completed a masters degree, MHS, in clinical research (Clinical Research Training Program). He also spent a substantial portion of his dedicated research time in fellowship at the Duke Clinical Research Institute (DCRI).

We currently employ one clinical research coordinator with the capacity to expand.
