Summary: The Establishment of a Patient Registry and Initiation of Related Projects of the New York State Multiple Sclerois Consortium
The New York State Multiple Sclerosis Consortium (NYSMSC)
involves a partnership among 17 multiple sclerosis centersi in New
York State. The purpose of this study is to gain a better
understanding of multiple sclerosis (MS) in New York State in terms
go the number of people that have MS within New York State,
demographics(e.g., age, sex, education), type of MS, ability, and
treatment therapies.
This study consists of an initial visit and standard clinical
follow up visits that occur one time per year. The study visit
consists of filling out a questionnaire and completing the Multiple
Sclerosis Functional Composite Test (MSFC).
The MSFC consists of two evaluations:
1. A timed 25 foot walk, which determines walking ability
2. A 9 hole peg test, which is a hand coordination test that
requires putting pegs into 9 holes

Patient Inclusion/Exclusion Criteria:
Male or female subject, 12 years of age or older, with
clinically definite multiple sclerosis
Males or females younger than 12 years of age
