Summary: Predicting Response to Treatment with Antidepressants
This study uses brain imaging technology (PET scans) to learn
about changes in brain chemistry related to depression. The goal is
to use this technology to predict which treatments will be the most
effective for individuals with depression. As a part of study
participation, patients receive no-cost outpatient treatment for
five months, or inpatient treatment, depending on their clinical
needs. Treatment is with antidepressant medications. All subjects
will receive medication treatment; there are no placebos used in
this study. You will be paid up to $415 for your time if you are
eligible and choose to participate. Further information is also

Patient Inclusion Criteria
- Ages 18 to 65
- Meets criteria for Major Depressive Disorder
- Currently depressed
Patient Exclusion Criteria
- Current alcohol/substance abuse or dependence.
- Pregnancy (Currently pregnant or lactating; planning to
conceive during the course of study participation).
- Unstable medical conditions
