Trial Information
Summary: A clinical study to test the safety and efficacy of an experimental drug in the treatment of stage II colon cancer patients following curative surgery
Long Island Jewish Medical Center is recruiting subjects with
colon cancer who are expecting a surgical partial removal of the
colon to participate in an experimental study. The study will
determine the safety and efficacy of an experimental drug in
preventing the recurrence of the cancer following surgical partial
removal of the patient’s colon cancer.
You may be eligible to participate in this study if
you:
- Are male or female at least 18 years of age
- Have confirmed stage II colon cancer
You may not participate in this study if
you:
- Have stage I, III, or IV colon cancer
- Have evidence of residual cancer or cancer that has spread to
other parts of the body
- Are pregnant or intend to become pregnant during the study
- Have any tumor originating in the rectum
- Have more than one malignant primary colon cancer
- Have a life expectancy of less than three years due to another
condition
- Have any immune deficiency disease
- Have received prior chemotherapy, radiation therapy, or had
another cancer (except certain skin and cervical cancers)
- Are undergoing systemic antibiotic therapy or have an acute
infection within 5 days of study vaccination
- Have a history of chronic inflammation of the colon, Crohn’s
disease, Gardner’s syndrome, or Turcot’s syndrome
- Have a history of tuberculosis; hepatitis B or C, or HIV
- Have cardiovascular or pulmonary complications or postoperative
complications
- Have participated in another research study within the last 4
weeks prior to the start of this study
