Trial Information
Summary: Self-Test Study for Females 14 to 21 -
Do you experience vaginal itching or burning?
What is the purpose of this study?
The purpose of this study is to determine if teen girls would use a
kit to test for vaginal problems (for example, a yeast infection).
This study will also compare the results of the test that a teen
gives herself to the results of a doctor’s exam.
Why is the study being conducted?
Currently, girls must go to the doctor to find out if they have a
vaginal infection. With a kit used at home, a girl would be able to
take charge of her own health and test for a problem herself.
Who will be included in this study?
Females between the ages of 14 and 21 may be able to
participate.
What is the pay?
Study participants will receive a gift card for their time and
effort.
What is involved?
This study includes 1 visit to the clinic. Some procedures that
will take place during the visit include:
- A questionnaire will be completed.
- Study participant will test herself for problems, such as a
yeast infection.
- A physician will examine the participant.
- A physician will discuss the results of the exam with the
teen.
What are the benefits?
You may receive no direct benefit from participating in this study.
The biggest benefit is that you may be contributing to research
that helps others. Clinical studies are essential in finding new
and improved treatments and diagnostic tools.
Will I get all the facts about the study?
You will be given a consent form that thoroughly explains all of
the details of the study. It goes over all of the procedures, the
risks, the benefits, the compensation, who to contact with
questions or concerns, and more. A member of the study staff will
review the consent form with you and will be sure that all of your
questions are answered. Study procedures will not begin until you
have signed this form.
What are the risks?
During the physical exam, the study participant might feel some
discomfort.
