Rotavirus is the virus that is the most common cause of severe diarrhea and vomiting (gastroenteritis) and fever among babies. It is unavoidable, even with good hygiene. By the age of 5, virtually all children will have suffered from this infection, with young babies most at risk of serious disease, hospitalization and even death. Be aware of the symptoms of rotavirus disease. If you suspect your baby is suffering from rotavirus, consult your doctor immediately.
