Summary: Heart Conditions in Overweight Individuals

People with a major heart condition are asked to participate in a research study being conducted by Jacobi Medical Center.

You may be eligible to participate in this study if you:

  • Are at least 55 years of age
  • Are Male and have a waistline of over 40 inches or are Female and have a waistline of over 35 inches
  • Have had at least one major heart condition including but not limited to: heart attack, chest pain, Peripheral artery disease (PAD), type 2 diabetes, high cholesterol

You may not participate in this study if you:

  • Have had weight loss surgery (stomach stapling, etc.) within the past 6 months
  • Have participated in a research trial involving the study drug rimonabant
  • Are pregnant, breastfeeding, or intend to become pregnant during the study
  • Have participated in another research study within the last 30 days
