Summary: RECURRING BLADDER PAIN OR DISCOMFORT?

FREQUENT TRIPS TO THE BATHROOM? YOU MAY HAVE INTERSTITAL CYSTITIS. A designated medical facility is taking part in a clinical research study of a currently approved oral medication for the relief of bladder pain or discomfort associated with interstitial cystitis. Study Participants Must: have recurrent bladder pain or discomfort with urinary urgency or frequency, be willing to attend up to 9 visits to a doctors office over a period of 6 months.

    Key Inclusion Criteria
    • 1. Women or men at least 18 years of age
    • 2. Subject must have bladder pain or discomfort with urinary urgency, not related to urinary tract infection, for at least the past 6 month
    • 3. Female patients using Hormone Replacement Therapy (HRT) must have been using HRT for at least the previous 3 months
    • 4. Participants average ≥10 voids per day and average ≥1 nocturnal voids
    • 5. Patients currently taking ELMIRON® can be enrolled after a 4 week wash-out period
    • 6. Patients must be able to understand, speak and read English
Key Exclusion Criteria
  • 1. Pregnant or breast-feeding women
  • 2. Any of the following conditions:
    • Surgery in the past 4 weeks
    • Bladder diseases other than IC
    • Chronic pain conditions
    • Men: chronic prostatitis, or prostate cancer
    • Women: significant vaginitis, or female cancers
    3. Any of the following medications:
    • Intravesical therapy (DMSO)
    • Oral meds for IC (antidepressants, antihistamines, antispasmodics, anticholinergics, etc.)
    • Chronic narcotics as well as Darvon®, Darvocet® or Utram®
    • Coumadin/warfarin, heparin, Plavix®/clopidogrel, tPA, or strptokinase
