Trial Information

Summary: RTOG 0433 (NCIC CTG SC.20) A Phase III International Randomized Trial of Single Versus Multiple Fractions For Re-Irradiation of Painful Bone Metastases

You are being asked to take part in this study because you have painful bone metastases from a previously diagnosed cancer. The purpose of this study is to compare a single dose of radiation (8 Gy) to multiple doses of radiation (totaling 20 Gy given in 5 or 8 treatments) to see which results in better control of pain and quality of life. We are interested in whether re-irradiation (radiation to the same site of previous radiation) will help manage pain that has returned. Your participation in this study is expected to last 1-8 days depending on to which group you are assigned.  After your treatment is over, your medical condition will be followed on this study for 12 months.
