Trial Information
Summary: A Pilot Feasibility Study of Intracerebral Microdialysis to Determine the Neuropharmacokinetics of Temozolomide
You have been asked to take part in this research study because you have a malignant brain tumor and your doctor is planning to treat you with a chemotherapy drug called temozolomide after surgery. The overall purpose of this study is to evaluate the feasibility of using a microdialysis catheter (a small catheter placed directly into brain tumor or into the area of the brain from which the tumor was removed) to measure how much of a chemotherapy drug taken by vein or mouth gets into the brain and how much stays there over time. Another purpose is to evaluate the feasibility of using a microdialysis catheter to collect information on levels of glucose and various other substances associated with how the brain works. Your active participation in this study is expected to last for approximately 48 hours after your surgery while you are still in the hospital. Your medical condition will be followed on this study for 30 days after your surgery.
