Summary: Ear Pain? Difficulty sleeping? Not eating as usual?

If your Doctor is saying your child has an Acute Ear Infection, he/she may qualify for a Clinical Research Study of acute otitis media.

Requirements:

  • Between 6 months to less than 6 years of age
  • Not allergic to macrolides or azithromycin (ie, Zithromax)
  • Able to swallow liquid medication
  • Has not taken an antibiotic in the last 5 days
  • Must have a clinical diagnosis of acute otitis media with ear pain and at least one of the following symptoms: fever, vomiting, diarrhea, loss of appetite, sleep disturbance or irritability
  • Must not have an ear tube in the painful ear
  • Be in good general health

Patients receive:

  • Research related medical evaluation
  • Study medication
