Summary: A Randomized Study of Tamoxifen Versus Thalidomide (NSC# 66847) in Patients with Biochemical-Recurrence-Only-Epithelial Ovarian Cancer, Cancer of the Fallopian Tube, and Primary Peritoneal Carcinoma After First Line Chemotherapy [GOG-0198]
This is a study for women who have been treated with
chemotherapy for cancer of the ovaries, fallopian tube, or
peritoneum (the membrane lining the walls of the abdominal cavity).
The purpose of this study is to determine which of the following
drugs, thalidomide or tamoxifen, may help to prevent the cancer
from returning for the longest period of time. In addition, this
study will help determine the side-effects of the study drug
thalidomide given to women with your type of cancer. Your study
participation will last for up to one year.

Patient Inclusion/Exclusion Criteria:
INCLUSION CRITERIA
You may be eligible to participate if you
-are 18 years of age or older
-have been diagnosed with ovarian, fallopian tube, or peritoneal
cancer
-have had initial chemotherapy
-meet additional criteria
You are not eligible for this study if you
-are pregnant or breastfeeding
-have had a stroke
-have had more than one previous chemotherapy regimen including
platinum and taxane
-are currently taking anti-seizure medications
