Summary: Quality of Life Assessment in Childhood Cancer Survivors
Focus Groups and Individual Interview participants
You have been asked to participate in this research study because you are listed on the City of Hope National Medical Center Cancer Registry as having been diagnosed with cancer as a child or teenager. The purpose of this study is to develop a Quality of Life questionnaire for long-term survivors of childhood cancer in order to form a model for the effects of childhood cancer on physical health, psychological well-being, social relationships and ability to participate in social activities, general attitude and outlook on life. Your participation in this study is expected to last the 60 to 90 minutes, depending on which of the two activities you agree to do.
Survey participants
You have been asked to participate in this research study because you are listed on the City of Hope National Medical Center Cancer Registry as having been diagnosed with cancer as a child or teenager. The purpose of this study is to evaluate the reliability and validity of a Quality of Life questionnaire for long-term survivors of childhood cancer. Another purpose is to determine whether there are differences in the effects of childhood cancer depending on whether the diagnosis occurred in early childhood, late childhood, or adolescence. Another purpose is to examine a model for the effects of childhood cancer on physical health, psychological well-being, social relationships and ability to participate in social activities, general attitude and outlook on life. Your participation in this study is expected to last the 30-45 minutes required to fill out a questionnaire.
