Summary: Genetics Study #1
Researchers at the University of Kentucky Chandler Medical
Center are conducting a clinical research study of patients or
family members of patients with Palizaeus-Merzbacher Disease and
Spastic Parapareses. These are diseases of the brain and nerves
causing difficulty walking and leg stiffness. The purpose of this
study is to look at how people inherit, carry or pass on the genes
for these conditions and establish a DNA bank for genetic
studies.
Participants may qualify if they:
- are between the ages of 0 and 60;
- have been diagnosed with Pelizaeus-Merzbacher; or
- have been diagnosed with Spastic Parapareses.
