Summary: Aripiprozole in At-Risk Children with symptoms of Bipolar Disorder
Condition: Pediatric Bipolar Disorder
Study Description: Research has shown that
children of parents with bipolar disorder are at higher risk for
developing a bipolar disorder than other children. This study will
examine the efficacy of aripiprazole (AbilifyÒ) in the
stabilization of mood in this group of young people. Eligible
patients who satisfy screening criteria will be closely monitored
with frequent clinical visits with a physician. Clinical care,
evaluations, mediations and laboratory tests done as part of the
study will be provided at no cost to the participant.
Patient Inclusion Criteria: Participants should
include boys and girls between the ages of 5 and 17, who are
experiencing mood shifts, sadness and elation and have at least one
parent diagnosed with bipolar disorder and has another relative
with a mood disorder.
Patient Exclusion Criteria: Participants should
include boys and girls between the ages of 5 and 17, who are
