Summary: Heartbeat - Irregular (Atrial Fibrillation)

Adults with atrial fibrillation (irregular heartbeat) are asked to participate in a research study being conducted by North Shore-Long Island Jewish Health System/Long Island Jewish Medical Center.

You may be eligible to participate in this study if you:

  • Are 18 years of age or older
  • Have a documented history of atrial fibrillation

You may not participate in this study if you:

  • Have a history of heart valve disorders
  • Have had a severe stroke within the last 6 months or any stroke in the last 14 days
  • Have any conditions associated with an increased risk of bleeding
  • Have allergies to warfarin treatment
  • Are pregnant or of childbearing age that refuse to use birth control
